What first inspired you to pursue a career in construction, and what kept you passionate about the industry over the years?
I began my career in construction in 2001, and what initially drew me to the field was the opportunity to build something tangible that people could rely on for years to come. I enjoyed the fast paced nature of the work and the fact that every project presented a unique challenge. No two days were exactly the same, and I found that exciting.
What has kept me passionate about the industry is seeing the direct impact that quality work can have. Construction isn’t just about structures; it’s about creating spaces where people live, work, and build their futures. Knowing that the work we do contributes to communities and improves people’s daily lives continues to motivate me.
Throughout your experience, what do you believe are the most important qualities of an effective leader?
I believe strong leaders communicate clearly, remain accountable, and lead by example. People want to know that they can trust the person guiding the project and that expectations are consistent and fair. Being willing to listen is just as important as being willing to make decisions.
I’ve also learned that adaptability is essential. Challenges will arise on every project, and effective leaders stay calm under pressure while focusing on solutions rather than obstacles. Building strong teams and empowering people to do their best work often leads to the strongest outcomes.
Why do you think attention to detail is so important in construction?
Attention to detail affects every phase of a project. Small oversights during planning can turn into larger issues later on, whether that’s related to scheduling, coordination, or execution. Taking the time to review details thoroughly often saves time, resources, and frustration in the long run.
I believe precision is what separates average work from exceptional work. When everyone involved commits to maintaining high standards, the end result is stronger, more reliable, and something everyone can take pride in.
How has Tampa’s growth influenced the way construction professionals approach projects today?
Tampa has experienced tremendous growth, and that growth brings both opportunities and new challenges. Projects often move at a faster pace, and there are greater expectations surrounding efficiency, organization, and communication.

My biggest piece of advice is to stay curious and be willing to learn. Construction offers opportunities to develop a wide range of skills, and some of the most valuable lessons come from hands on experience. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek guidance from people who have been in the industry longer.
I would also encourage people to take pride in their work and understand the importance of reliability. Showing up prepared, maintaining a positive attitude, and consistently doing your best can open doors and create opportunities for long-term success.

No matter how much the industry evolves, I believe certain principles remain timeless: integrity, preparation, communication, and accountability. Those values help build trust and create stronger working relationships, which ultimately contribute to better outcomes.
I also believe in continuous improvement. There’s always something new to learn and ways to become more efficient and effective. Staying open to growth while remaining grounded in your core values is what allows you to adapt, lead, and continue moving forward throughout your career.
