What made you want to do the work you do? Please share the full story.

Growing up in a motel, I wore many hats like the front desk, being a maid and a handyman. With these skill sets it became apparent to be that surgery fit my skill set and more specifically Plastic surgery. Where form meets function and solving puzzles is the mainstay. It’s something that allows me to use my heart, my mind and my body to make change around me. I have a calling to make things better. In this case, its people.

The three things I love about my work is:
1. The ability to use my mind and body to transform how someone feels about themselves
2. The variety of everyday and every procedure
3. The impact in who someone becomes by belief

What are the 3 things you like best about your work and why?

The three things I love about my work is:
1. The ability to use my mind and body to transform how someone feels about themselves

What are your greatest 3 skills and how have they helped you succeed?

My three greatest skills are being resourceful, having a gift of anticipation and simplify the complex. These three skill give me the confidence to solve all the puzzles life throws at my and I have the privilege to solve for.

Tell us about a time you were dead wrong about something.

I was dead wrong about being able to do pediatric craniofacial surgery in private practice where I wanted to live. There were no neurosurgeons available to do these cases and therefore I pivoted into cosmetic facial plastic surgery. Specialization is required for the masses to know you for that. If you do not decide on what you specialize in, then the public will decide.

How do you get yourself out of a funk? Please share the details.

Exercise and meditation are the two core strategies I use to get me out of a funk. They calm my nerves allow me to expand my consciousness to see outside of my current state.

What is a habit you try to stick to and how has it helped you?

Listening to podcasts as a daily habit pushes my mind to be exposed to different types of content regardless of my mood. The exposure to contrarian ideas allows for curious questions that can get me to a state of wonder.

How do you celebrate your victories?

I celebrate my victories with notes to myself in the moment.

What is your favorite book and why?

The Diary of a CEO and Motiv8 podcasts have a wealth of knowledge and frames of opinions outside the ones I am exposed to with my current environments. They allow me stay curious in areas that are uncomfortable…

What advice would you give to your younger self and why?

Laugh more and be unapologetically you. No idea, action or instance will define you. Its the frame you decide to believe about yourself which you allow to define yourself by.

Who has been your biggest mentor in life (personal or professional) and how have they helped you?

Dan Martell and Aziz Gazipura have been the biggest mentors in terms of mindset and business coaching. They provided clarity in the problems and possible solutions with frameworks.
