How did you get started in this business?
As a retirement advisor, I often had clients who hated paying taxes and wanted tax-free retirement solutions. However, most of the companies at that time were quite shady and some of my past clients even fell victim to such scams. That’s when I got the idea for IRAEmpire, a platform where experts and users alike, can review retirement investments & services.
How does your company make money?
We generate money through corporate partnerships and display ads. I have a high standard for all the content published on the websites, this helps us stand out from the crowd. As there are a lot of spammy review websites on the internet nowadays, our impeccable quality ensures a high retention time.
How does your company go about acquiring new customers?
We reach new readers through Google and Twitter. Most of our audience spends most of their time on these platforms.
How did you work your way up in this business?
I had very humble beginnings. I started working at my father’s farm in Texas, it was hard work but I learned a lot from there. I got a bachelor’s & master’s Degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Dallas. Soon after I passed my licensing exams. And after working as an independent retirement advisor for almost 9 years, I started IRAEmpire.com.
What made you want to work in this industry
I cannot express how happy I feel when I see my clients’ faces who successfully save hundreds of thousands of dollars through smart investments. The sheer amount of joy is inexplicable.
What is it that you feel makes you good at your job?
Putting people over profits. It’s one of the things that has helped me make connections in multi-million dollar companies and put together a team of loyal employees. I am proud to say that IRAEmpire staff members were paid full salaries even during times of distress.
What are the perks of working in this type of business?
The freedom to travel has to be the biggest perk of operating an online business. As a full-time retirement advisor, I barely had time for dinner let alone vacations. But now thanks to IRAEmpire, I get more time to spend with my family and also travel the world with them.
What are the disadvantages of working in this field?
Keeping up with the market is very hectic. As the chief editor, I have to keep up with the prices of precious metals, and cryptocurrencies while also keeping a keen eye on the national economy. It all adds up to 2 to 3 hours of reading every day.
What’s the most rewarding part of your work?
The most rewarding part of my job (except for the profits) is communicating with others and looking for new solutions together. The ideas that people come up with from time to time are absolutely brilliant, and I like listening to them.
Where is your industry headed? What excites you about the future in this line of work?
Gold reached an all-time high value last week, so I believe the precious metals industry is headed in the right direction. I hope to guide retirees to the right companies so that they can avoid scams.
What advice do you give people who want to get into your field of work?
Stay consistent. People lack patience nowadays, they start a business and want to become a millionaire in 6 months, but that’s not how the real world works. Online publishing is a very competitive and difficult market, so you have to stay consistent and keep at it until you succeed.
