Encompassing an insurmountable drive and the necessary skills to succeed, Bobby Blackburn has aimed high and launched his own successful business which has proven to be an extremely rewarding endeavor. With a stellar resume and an eye for opportunity, Bobby continues to generate a significant client base and return customers.

Having joined the army straight out of high school, Bobby served for a total of eight years before beginning work for a company known as Pacesetter. His military experience gave him an edge having acquired strong leadership and organizational skills. Having made a name for himself by achieving top sales several years in a row, it was only a matter of time before Bobby would set his sights on opening his own business, Pro Roofing USA. Bobby ultimately decided to utilize his skill set and turn his passion into a lucrative endeavor.

Wanting to further develop his skills, Bobby made the decision to enroll in a local community college located in Huntsville, Alabama. It was there that he gained further insight into operating a business and worked diligently to build his company from the ground up. Bobby went on to obtain his home builders license for the State of Alabama and began constructing houses ranging from 2000-5000 square feet. Pro Roofing USA has locations in multiple states now including Indiana, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky. Bobby and his team also hope to open operations in Florida and looks forward to the continuous expansion.

How did you get started in this business? What inspired you to start this business?

I started Pro Roofing USA because I needed to find an outlet for my talents while simultaneously making a profit. I have always enjoyed working with my hands and it is extremely rewarding to have your customers completely satisfied with the job you have done.

How do you make money?

I run a successful small business and I value the work of every employee. At Pro Roofing USA, everyone plays a significant role in generating profit and it is because of the strong work ethic of my team members that I have been able to be as successful as I am.

How long did it take for you to become profitable?

Taking a risk is inevitable when it comes to starting your own company so I had to make sure every phase of my initial plan was executed to the best of my abilities. I knew from the beginning that I would be successful if I was committed and put in the work.

When you were starting out, was there ever a time you doubted it would work? If so, how did you handle that?

I never doubted myself or my capabilities because I knew I had the experience and the skill set to succeed in the industry. When you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything. If I encountered an obstacle I would find several alternatives to improve the situation.

How did you get your first customer?

When I first started out I had to canvass door to door. Our high customer satisfaction ratings eventually landed us a committed clientele and our quality of work speaks for itself.

What is one marketing strategy (other than referrals) that you’re using that works really well to generate new business?

We have a call center that generates leads for us in areas where storms have affected residences. Having the resources and the ability to help individuals in those types of situations is very rewarding and makes our efforts worthwhile.

What is the toughest decision you’ve had to make in the last few months?

I have received several opportunities to have managing partners in other locations, however, it spreads me too thin to obligate my time too fast. Business is all about making tough decisions and I have to consider what is best for the success of the company.

What do you think it is that makes you successful?

A positive attitude is the key to success. Being able to work long hours, overcome unfortunate circumstances, and still provide high-quality work is essential to generating profit.

What has been your most satisfying moment in business?

Having the opportunity to provide others with job security is very rewarding. I get to live my dream every day while helping my team achieve theirs. I am extremely grateful for all of the opportunities I have been given and will continue to help others succeed.

What does the future hold for your business? What are you most excited about?

We are constantly venturing into new markets and look forward to a continued expansion so we can help change people’s lives all over the country.

See You at the Top by Zig Ziglar is a great motivational book which stresses the importance of personal goals and how they should be a significant part of an individual’s program for success. Similarly, Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki has valuable financial tips that are great for anyone in business.

What is a recent purchase you have made that helped with your business?

I have not made a specific purchase that has helped with Pro Roofing USA, however, I constantly invest time and energy into my team because they are what keep us successful. I value the hard work of all of my employees which continues to drive us forward.
