Dr. Paul Guerrino DDS is a dentist practicing in New York City with three locations and over 30 years of experience. To grow his business to three locations, he has based his business on two pillars: Passion and Hard work. He has been passionate about becoming a dentist from a young age. When he was a child and got his first cavity, he was adamant to learn as much as he could about everything dental related. He also never got a cavity again.

This passion for medicine led him to medical school, specializing in dentistry. He has extensive post-graduate training in Periodontics and Implantology at Boston University and New York University, respectively. This passion reflects his hard work with his patients.  As for hard work, he always ensures that client needs are taken care off, which means putting in extra hours at times. A combination of these factors have helped grow his practice from one office at inceptions, to three offices within the New York area.

Paul has also had strong organizing skills. He is able to coordinate operations at all his three offices in Hartsdale, Scarsdale and Mt. Vernon. Going forward, Paul intends to keep improving the patient experience. The idea is to ensure that whenever clients visit any of his clients, they leave with a good word about it. This will anchor the future growth of his business.

I make money mainly providing dental services.  It’s the main source of income in the medical world.

How long did it take for you to become profitable?

To be honest, we didn’t struggle much. We were profitable by the second quarter of operations. Our reception by the market was amazing.

When you were starting out, was there ever a time you doubted it would work? If so, how did you handle that?

Yes, there were times when I doubted whether it would work. I handled this by reminding myself that what I do improves people’s lives. That was enough to get me going during the tough times.

How did you get your first customer?

My first customer was a walk-in. Once we opened our doors, the first person came and enquired about our services and pricing. From that point on, many more followed, and as they say, the rest is history.

What is one marketing strategy (other than referrals) that you’re using that works really well to generate new business?

Facebook has been really powerful in generating new clients. It is very easy to generate new leads with Facebook, and the best part is that it’s very cost-effective.

What is the toughest decision you’ve had to make in the last few months?

At one point we had to lay of a few of our staff in order to streamline operations. It was tough, but we had to do it, in order to serve our clients more efficiently.

What do you think it is that makes you successful?

That would my passion for dental practice. Clients are always able to detect this passion in my work, and it keeps them coming back.

My most satisfying moment was when I fixed a little boys teeth, he was so happy and looked forward to showing his teeth to his friends in school the next day. This touched me.
