Michael Terence Rave, Esq., is a seasoned Corporate, SEC, and M&A attorney with over 25 years of experience. He has held roles ranging from Contract Attorney to Partner at prestigious law firms. Since June 2022, Michael has been working as a Contract Attorney, collaborating with corporations and law firms on corporate, securities, and M&A projects. Prior to this, he served as an SEC/M&A Attorney at Valley National Bank from September 2020 to May 2022, overseeing compliance with SEC and Nasdaq regulations, managing M&A transactions, and coordinating capital markets transactions with outside counsel.
Michael spent 22 years at Day Pitney LLP in Parsippany, NJ, where he progressed from Associate to Partner, advising on corporate governance, leading M&A transactions, and managing capital markets transactions. He began his legal career as an Associate at Greenbaum Rowe Smith Ravin Davis & Himmel in Iselin, NJ. Michael holds a J.D. and a B.A. in Financial Management from The Catholic University of America. He is also the Founder and CEO of Brandywine Legal Recruiting, LLC, a firm specializing in placing corporate attorneys. Outside of his legal career, he is an avid triathlete and a dedicated volunteer at the Brandywine Valley SPCA.
You’ve also worked as a Contract Attorney in recent years. How has this experience influenced your perspective on the legal industry?

My interest in the legal profession began during my undergraduate studies in Financial Management. I was captivated by the intricate relationship between business and law, especially in areas like mergers and acquisitions. This fascination led me to pursue a J.D., where I discovered my passion for corporate law. Over the years, the ever-changing legal landscape has kept me engaged, as each new case presents fresh challenges and opportunities for learning, which I find immensely rewarding.
After extensive experience in prestigious firms and in-house roles, what inspired you to start Brandywine Legal Recruiting, LLC?
The idea for Brandywine Legal Recruiting stemmed from my deep understanding of the corporate law industry and the needs of law firms and corporate legal departments. I recognized an opportunity to leverage my experience in helping firms find the right legal talent, particularly in specialized areas like M&A and capital markets. Launching my own recruiting firm allowed me to apply my industry knowledge in a new and impactful way, focusing on connecting top legal professionals with organizations that require their expertise.

One of the most memorable deals I worked on was a merger valued at over $2 billion. The transaction’s complexity required meticulous attention to detail and flawless coordination among various stakeholders.
