Lewis Syring was born in Los Angeles, California. Growing up, he was a natural leader and people always seemed to appreciate his ideas and advice. Plus he seemed to have a natural eye for art and an understanding of what people would want to buy. By middle school, his fellow students and even his teachers always voted him a judge whether the contest was in art, fashion, music or writing. He also had an uncanny ability to identify new trends and anticipate what people wanted.

When he was a teenager, his parents opened a clothing store that sold formal clothing for adults. After a few months with limited success, Lewis created a marketing plan for them and encouraged them to offer clothing for children and teens as well. The business became a huge hit and the company now has branches in several cities. 

By the time Lewis Syring earned his degree in marketing from U.C.L.A., his work in branding and marketing was legendary all over California and the Pacific Northwest. Over the past 15 years he has helped brands and businesses in as far-flung places as New York, Hong Kong, Australia, Brazil, South Africa and the United Kingdom to flourish.

How did you get your first customer?

I got my first customer by realizing that my parents were in danger of losing their life savings and having their dream come to naught if they didn’t get some help. I quickly understood that their target market was much too small for them to enjoy any real success. So I crafted a marketing plan that allowed them to expand their target demographic exponentially. There was a dire need in our area for a local shop that could meet the needs of children and teens for trendy, affordable clothing. My parents had the location, the trust of the people in the area and the resources and contacts to get the clothing. All they lacked was the vision and a better understanding of the potentially lucrative market in their midst. I was able to provide them with those things. As a result their business flourished.

What is one marketing strategy (other than referrals) that you’re using that works really well to generate new business?

Other than referrals, the most effective marketing strategy I use is internet marketing. My company’s website offers information on a series of successful branding campaigns we have conceptualized and implemented for companies worldwide. On the website we show the cash flow of the companies with which we have worked prior to our marketing campaign and their income once we began working with them. This method works because the internet is able to connect with companies in the farthest corners of the globe. What also helps is that the companies with which we have worked seemed to suddenly burst onto the scene out of nowhere. When companies realize we made the difference, they reach out to us in droves. Internet marketing is one of the most cost-effective methods for attracting new customers.

What does the future hold for your business? What are you most excited about?

The future looks very bright for my company. New businesses are contacting us everyday when they see how we’ve been able to help other companies establish their brands. Plus they understand we have the resources to connect them to very lucrative markets. They’re drawn to our experience and expertise and our ability to make them successful. I am very excited about the growing interconnectedness of the world. This enables us to reach out to both more consumers and more businesses. It makes me feel good to know we’re helping to improve the quality of life for countless people by connecting them to the products and services they need.
