What made you want to do the work you do? Please share the full story.

I was inspired to enter the financial services industry by my father, who transitioned from being an insurance salesman to founding ASC Financial Group. Watching him help families secure their futures left a lasting impression on me. After witnessing the financial crash of 2008, I saw firsthand how vulnerable people’s savings and retirement plans could be. I realized I wanted to make a difference by creating financial strategies that protect against such risks. My goal has always been to help clients feel confident about their financial future, knowing they have a sustainable income stream for life. I also believe my faith has played a significant role in guiding me toward a career that is centered around service and stewardship.

Tell us 3 surprisingly easy and 3 surprisingly difficult things about your job.

Three surprisingly easy aspects of my job include connecting with clients, explaining complex strategies, and staying organized. Building rapport comes naturally to me because I genuinely care about people and their goals, and I enjoy breaking down financial plans into simple, understandable terms. Additionally, years of experience have made it second nature to manage multiple clients and their individual needs effectively. On the flip side, navigating market volatility is a constant challenge, as unpredictable markets often require me to help clients stay calm and focused. Tailoring plans for unique situations can also be difficult, as everyone’s financial story is different and demands creativity to find the perfect solution. Finally, balancing work-life responsibilities is a persistent struggle, as the demands of my job can make it hard to fully disconnect and focus on family time.

How to Set Financial Goals That Actually Work: A Step-by-Step Guide

What are the 3 things you like best about your work and why?

The three things I like best about my work are helping people, building relationships, and teaching others. It’s incredibly rewarding to see clients achieve their financial goals and enjoy a stress-free retirement. I also love getting to know my clients on a personal level and walking alongside them on their financial journeys. Additionally, hosting Social Security workshops and retirement events gives me the opportunity to share knowledge and empower people to make informed decisions about their futures. On the other hand, my three biggest weaknesses are perfectionism, time management, and letting go of stress. I tend to overanalyze, but I’ve learned to delegate tasks and trust my team to handle them effectively. Balancing family, volunteering, and work can be challenging, so I rely on structured schedules and reminders to stay organized. To manage stress, I’ve incorporated prayer, meditation, and outdoor activities into my routine, helping me maintain a healthy mindset.

Tell us about a time where you saw a surprising outcome that you did not expect.

During a Social Security workshop, a client shared that they had no confidence in achieving retirement security. After working together to build a tailored financial plan, they came back a year later to say they were finally at peace about their future. This outcome was humbling and reminded me how much of a difference our work can make in people’s lives.

Have you ever moved for a new job? Tell us about that experience.

I haven’t moved for a job, but my career progression at ASC Financial Group has felt like a significant journey. Each role has brought new challenges and growth opportunities, making it feel like I’ve moved forward in every sense of the word.

What is a habit you try to stick to and how has it helped you?
