Eddy Petion has taken an atypical journey on the road to professional success. As a child, he immigrated to the United States at age 12, alongside his family. After attending high school in New York City, Eddy then studied at City College of New York and DeVry University, where he majored in network and telecommunications management. Upon completing his post-secondary education, he elected to serve his adopted country and joined the US Army.

Eddy Petion entered the financial services industry in 2003. His experience eventually led him into the mortgage industry, where he took a position as a loan officer and mortgage banker for several years before starting his own real estate investment business in the greater New York City area. In 2008, when the US real estate market collapsed, Eddy Petion re-entered the corporate world, this time in the tech industry. He worked with several leading wireless carriers, helping to build up their 3G, 4G, and 5G networks throughout the country.

After some time had passed and the economy bounced back, Eddy once again submitted to his innate entrepreneurial instincts and, along with two other like-minded business people, co-founded NovaTech, a cutting-edge international foreign exchange and cryptocurrency platform. Now, with more than two decades of experience in sales, information technology, real estate investment, and managing multi-million dollar projects to his credit, Eddy Petion oversees daily operations and trading at NovaTech. In that capacity, he also occasionally travels abroad to visit various financial institutions and forums, both as an attendee and as a guest speaker.

Please tell us about your business.

NovaTech is a foreign exchange (forex) and cryptocurrency trading platform. That means we built a user-friendly interface that everyday, average people can use to grow their wealth by buying and selling foreign currencies and cryptocurrencies. From the standpoint of our users, you just join up as an affiliate of our program, load it up on your computer, and start trading as you see fit. We also offer assistance to novice and beginner traders in the form of skills training.

Please tell us how you make sure your customers will become raving fans of your company?

Although we fully embrace cryptocurrency trading as the future of investment, part of the reason my co-founders and I created NovaTech in the first place was that we realized there was something missing in the crypto market, and that was giving people easy access to their funds. That is the thought that inspired us to make our own trading platform. We wanted to build a product that is very easy and efficient for ordinary people to use as they endeavor to build their own wealth.

We have a philosophy at NovaTech: We want to give everyone in the world the opportunity to have their money work for them instead of the other way around, and we want to make that as simple of a process as possible. We want to give everyone equal opportunity and access to the potentially life-changing marketplaces of forex and crypto.

Please tell us the one thing that separates your business from the competition.

One of the most important elements of our business is that we work to educate our clients. We don’t just take their money and tell them, “Okay, sink or swim time! Good luck out there!” No, unlike some other financial service providers, we care about more than simply getting our commission. We actually want to help people make money for their retirement, or for their children’s education, or to fund whatever dreams they may have. In my considerable experience, that’s exceptionally rare in the financial services industry.

And to finish this section, please tell us what the one major key to your company’s success is?

I think the fact that we genuinely care about our clients is the guiding light that illuminates the path to NovaTech’s success. It compels us to do more research in our trade recommendations, be more careful with our advice, and just work harder in general.

For our readers just starting to build a company, what advice can you give entrepreneurs just starting out with a new venture?

It is likely that you will fail in your first attempt to start a business. Don’t let that discourage you. Whatever you do, don’t give up. It happens to the vast majority of successful entrepreneurs, especially early in their careers. It happened to Thomas Edison, it happened to Soichiro Honda, and it happened to Elon Musk—who is now the wealthiest person on the planet. It even happened to Henry Ford, who in retrospect thought it was such an important lesson that he is quoted as saying, “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” Truer words were never spoken.

For entrepreneurs seeking to build a business as successful as yours, what big piece of advice can you give them when times get a little challenging?

Do not give in to the urge to panic. No good comes from it. Just stay cool and ride it out.

In today’s fast changing business environment, how do you stay abreast of things?

Because I do a lot of liquid asset trading, I have Google alerts set for important news items on my smartphone. Just to give an example, certain world events can unduly affect the foreign exchange trade aspect of NovaTech’s business. If, say, Mexico’s central bank raises their interest rates or the government of India passes a new set of environmental regulations, I need to know about it, and that’s when my phone dings at me and presents me with a relevant article.

What is your “Why”? In one sentence, why do you get up in the morning?

I get up in the morning in order to help grow the wealth of ordinary people who do not have privileged access to high-priced financial advisors and Wall Street insiders.

In one sentence, what is the most important thing one has to do to be a great leader?

The single most important thing? To me, it’s a toss-up between wisdom and compassion.

In one sentence, describe how important your customers are to your business?

Our clients are the lifeblood of our business. Without them, the company wouldn’t exist.

In one sentence, describe a positive way that technology can make the world a better place?

Leaping immediately to mind is the fact that technology has enabled ordinary people to bypass professional brokers and make investments directly via their personal computers, smart devices, and the global digital telecommunications network.

In one sentence, tell us something positive to motivate our readers?

With a little bit of money to get started and the proper guidance, anyone can make themselves wealthy.

In one sentence, tell us how you start your day to get ready?

Personally, I exercise as soon as I wake up. I follow that with a healthy breakfast and a cup of coffee while I scan the morning news.

In one sentence, describe how you handle rejection and setbacks?

I take a deep breath, evaluate the situation as best I can, and then move on with new business.

In one sentence, describe what your hiring philosophy is?

I will hire anyone who displays talent, business acumen, and respect for their fellow human beings.

In one sentence, describe how you keep your sanity in a competitive business environment?

I know it’s hard to believe that a financial services executive is the one giving this advice, but… unplug. When the work day is over, the work day is over. Family is important. Personal health is important. Rest and relaxation are important. Don’t make your entire life about work.
