How did you get started in this business?
I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Havana with a degree in Dental Medicine, and then I enrolled in Nova Southeastern University’s prestigious dental school. There, I received my Diploma from Jeb Bush, Governor of Florida at the time. After graduating, I didn’t hesitate to jump into my first job – opening a private office in Miami with the most up-to-date technology and equipment.

How do you make money?
I help people regain or acquire beautiful, healthy smiles at My Smile Miami, and that’s how I earn my living.
How long did it take for you to become profitable?
When I started my private office in Miami, it hardly took a week to welcome my first patient, and after that, I don’t remember a day when I didn’t help someone get a little brighter smile. From the very first month, my dental clinic has been profitable.
When you were starting out, was there ever a time you doubted it would work? If so, how did you handle that?
When I was starting out and was going through the process of procuring equipment for my private dental office, I was very stressed. It was way more challenging than I had thought, but then a friend of mine helped me a lot with all the logistics and related issues, and I was able to handle the situation smoothly.
How did you get your first customer?
I still remember my first customer was one of the workers who helped me set up the clinic. A week after I officially started My Smile Miami, a person from the trucking company came seeking a solution for his stained teeth. He was so happy with the treatment that my second patient was his daughter, whom I treated with Invisalign for crooked teeth.
What is one marketing strategy (other than referrals) that you’re using that works really well to generate new business?
I have always relied heavily on Facebook marketing, which has always been very successful. My Facebook campaigns have always helped me generate new business with minimum investment.
What is the toughest decision you’ve had to make in the last few months?
Four months back, I decided to expand my private office a bit, which was a callous decision. Handling my patients and all the work related to the office expansion became very hectic. It took two months, and I am thrilled with the results.
What do you think it is that makes you successful?
My patients’ satisfaction. I feel thrilled to see my patients smiling again with confidence.
What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
Every time I see a patient smiling and happy, that’s the most satisfying feeling. And I am so blessed to experience this satisfaction many times a day.
What does the future hold for your business? What are you most excited about?
I am very hopeful about the future of My Smile Miami. I plan to add more services to my clinic and offer holistic oral health care to my patients. I am incredibly excited about the Cone Beam CT, An Advanced Imaging Technique that I have just started using at my office.
