How did you get started in this business? What inspired you to start this business?

While still pursuing an undergraduate degree at McGill University, I realized that my passion for science as well as for fine art and sculpting could be best utilized in the work I perform through Elite Body Sculpture.

How do you make money?

Our focus is on laser liposuction, and that exclusive focus has allowed us to become the first option for patients seeking the kind of care only a true specialist can provide.

How long did it take for you to become profitable?

With all of the equipment and startup costs, we fully expected profitability to be a relatively lengthy process.

When you were starting out, was there ever a time you doubted it would work? If so, how did you handle that?

I never doubted the overarching concept, but there were times I had doubts that I simply handled by continuing to place my complete trust in the vision we had for the practice.

How did you get your first customer?

I made some media appearances explaining the procedure and the advanced technology we use, and we also offered free consultations for any patient interested in undergoing the procedure.

What is one marketing strategy (other than referrals) that you’re using that works really well to generate new business?

It is really the same strategy we have always used. I continue to make media appearances and offer free consultations, and our results tend to speak for themselves.

What is the toughest decision you’ve had to make in the last few months?

I typically have to walk a fine line when discussing patient goals, particularly when a patient is seeking to achieve an outcome representing more than is necessary. Deciding on the best approach in these circumstances is undeniably difficult.

What do you think it is that makes you successful?

I truly care about my patients and take the time to make sure I understand what they are trying to achieve through a specific procedure.

What has been your most satisfying moment in business?

I see my patients on a fairly regular basis, so seeing the emotional change that accompanies the physical change is remarkably satisfying for me.

What does the future hold for your business? What are you most excited about?

I’m most excited about the innovative projects we are currently working on, but the future will continue to include a focus on the patient and on achieving the best possible outcome.

What business books have inspired you?

“The Medical Entrepreneur,” by Dr. Steven Hacker has been the most helpful business book I have read recently.

What is a recent purchase you have made that’s helped with your business?

We are always looking for new technology we can apply to some aspect of our practice, and any investment we make in research and development always yields a wholly positive return.

What has been the most difficult aspect of running your business?

There has been a continued demand for our services all over the nation, so it has been a challenge in trying to meet that demand through the expansion of the practice and the addition of new locations.
