What made you love the real estate industry?
I started off as a high school teacher, but my love of real estate was always there. I watched my family and friends buying houses and thought to myself, “if they can make it happen, I should try and do the same”. I always say “helping people is my heart,” and Dana’s Colorado Homes continues to grow every day. The innate love and passion for helping others which I developed as a teacher is now focused on my clients as a real estate professional.

Well definitely when I am spending time with my family and out in nature. I want to help a lot of people live their best lives in the best homes. I definitely feel so happy when I am able to provide help in fulfilling that same dream I had of a Colorado home.

At Dana’s Colorado Homes, my approach has been to focus on education and doing what is best for my clients. When you visit most real estate agent’s sites, you’ll see how to contact them and their listings. First of all, people are not looking at an agent’s site to find homes, they are looking at Zillow and Realtor.com. When you visit my site however, you are going to find out who I am, where my motivation comes from, and article after article of free information on everything you could ever want to know about real estate…and I am adding more and more every week. As an entrepreneur, what is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?
I spend a lot of time and effort focused on building and maintaining relationships. Business and life are all about building relationships. I think it’s important to not focus on what you can get from people but what you can offer them. A dear friend and mentor of mine once said, “you have to make many deposits into a relationship before you can make any withdrawals.” I have based my business on exactly that by helping and teaching people. I’m not going to hound you for business, or call random people and ask if you want to sell. Instead, I create articles teaching the ‘ins and outs’ of real estate. I give free advice to my sphere and am prepared to talk about the market at a moment’s notice. When you invest in building great relationships with the people of your community, your friends and co-workers, local restaurant owners, contractors, lenders, fellow agents, or people you just met, the business will come. Instead of someone pushy or only interested in what they can get out of you, people come to see you as someone they can trust to have their best interest at heart— someone who is caring, honest, helpful, and full of integrity. Who wouldn’t want that with everyone in their lives?
