How did you get started in this business? What inspired you to start this business?

From a young age, I was fascinated by the world of law and its intricacies. Growing up surrounded by lawyers, particularly my uncles, I gained a unique insight and respect for the profession. It was not just their legal expertise that impressed me, but also their integrity and dedication. As I excelled in my studies and realized my strengths in analyzing complex legal cases, I knew that I had found my calling. Today, as a commercial lawyer of repute, I am proud to follow in the footsteps of my esteemed family members and serve my clients with unwavering commitment and diligence. The legal profession is not just a career to me, but a way of life, and I am grateful for the opportunities it has afforded me to make a real difference in people’s lives.

How do you make money?

I make money by charging a fee for my services. The fees I charge largely depend on the magnitude of the transaction. For instance, mergers and acquisitions generally come at a higher cost than normal commercial transactions.

What has been your biggest struggle on your entrepreneurial journey?

As an entrepreneur in the commercial law industry, my biggest challenge has undoubtedly been the level of competition in the market. The constant pressure to stay ahead of the game can seem overwhelming at times. However, I believe that this competition ultimately pushes me to strive for excellence in all aspects of my work. It forces me to stay up-to-date with the latest industry developments and continuously hone my skills to deliver the best possible service to my clients. While it can be daunting, I see the competition as a motivator to become the best version of myself and achieve success in the ever-competitive world of commercial law.

How long did it take for you to become profitable?

Starting a commercial law office is no easy task. It requires a lot of dedication, hard work and patience. For me, it took about two years before I was able to break-even. During this period, I spent countless hours networking and building relationships with potential clients. While it may have taken me over a year to build a solid reputation in the industry, the payoff was worth it. The more people got to know me and my work, the more my credibility grew. Today, I can look back with pride and know that the struggles of those two years were all worth it. Running a successful commercial law office is no easy feat, but with determination and a willingness to put in the effort, it can be a rewarding venture.

What does your business do?

My primary role is to provide guidance on the legal aspects of corporate decisions and the potential implications they may have on the company’s bottom line. My job is not only to ensure legal compliance but also to mitigate or avoid any risks that may arise from those decisions. With years of experience and a deep understanding of corporate law, I am committed to ensuring that my clients receive the best possible legal advice and representation so they can focus on what they do best – growing their businesses with confidence.

When you were starting out, was there ever a time you doubted it would work? If so, how did you handle that?

Not even once. When I made the decision to pursue a career as a commercial lawyer, I did so with a clear understanding of the challenges that lay ahead. However, what gave me confidence and satisfaction in my decision was the conviction that I had a passion for the work. Many people enter into careers with the sole motivation of making money, but they often end up feeling unfulfilled and resentful of their profession. As a commercial lawyer, I find fulfillment in the knowledge that I am making a real impact in the lives of my clients, and that every decision I make has far-reaching consequences. My passion for the law fuels my drive to succeed, and I never have any doubts or regrets about my career choice. For anyone considering a career in law, my advice is to follow your passion, and let the rest fall into place.

What is one marketing strategy (other than referrals) that you’re using that works really well to generate new business?

As a legal professional, I have found that while referrals are certainly helpful, Google marketing has proven to be a highly effective way to attract clients. Through targeted advertising on Google, I am able to reach a specific audience that is most likely to need my services. It’s impressive to see just how precise the targeting capabilities are, and I have been pleased with the results so far. With Google ads, I am able to showcase my expertise and unique selling points in a way that resonates with potential clients. Overall, I would highly recommend leveraging the power of Google marketing as a valuable tool in your legal marketing strategy.

What is the toughest decision you’ve had to make in the last few months?

I tend to plan things ahead, and can easily foresee situations that could drive me into drastic decision making. Thanks to this proactive approach to decision making, I have managed to avoid making tough and drastic decisions that I would otherwise not implement.

What has been your most satisfying moment in business?

Securing my first major client in commercial law was undoubtedly the most satisfying moment of my career. The fact that this company had over $50 million in revenues made the experience all the more rewarding. It was a real validation of the hard work and determination that I had devoted to building my business. The confidence boost that I received from this successful acquisition enabled me to approach future clients with a newfound assurance, and helped to establish a reputation for my firm. I remain deeply grateful for this milestone achievement, which truly set the tone for my professional career going forward.

What does the future hold for your business? What are you most excited about?

As we move forward into an era of rapid technological advancement, the legal landscape is becoming increasingly complex. Changes in technology often result in changes in regulations which can be difficult to navigate without the expertise of a commercial lawyer. For this reason, I am confident in saying that the future of commercial law is bright.

What business books have inspired you?

I have read many business books but the most inspiring one is, “How to Win Friends And Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. This is one of the best business books for those who want to understand the art of networking. I have learned a lot from it.

Are you willing to mentor someone?

Absolutely. In fact, I have plans to launch a law mentorship academy soon.
