Gino, it’s a pleasure to have you with us today. You have such an inspiring journey. Can you start by sharing a bit about your background and what led you into the world of marketing?

Thank you for having me! I was born and raised in Naples, Florida, in a close-knit Italian-American family. My parents were immigrants, and they really emphasized the importance of education and hard work. Growing up, I didn’t always know marketing would be my path, but I was always curious about people and had a creative streak. My interest truly sparked during college at the University of Florida, thanks to a professor who showed me the power of branding and consumer behavior. It felt like a perfect fit for my interests and strengths.

Your journey is marked by perseverance, especially overcoming challenges like public speaking. How did you go from being afraid of speaking to speaking at prestigious marketing conferences?

Public speaking was actually one of my biggest fears, especially in high school. I joined the debate team specifically to confront it, and that experience taught me so much about courage and resilience. It wasn’t easy—I remember my first debate was nerve-wracking! But as I improved, I became more confident, and that skill has served me well throughout my career. Now, speaking at conferences feels like a natural way to connect with others and share what I’ve learned.

You started your career as a junior marketing associate and faced some setbacks. How did you stay motivated during those times?

Honestly, it was tough at first. I was working long hours, putting my best effort into each project, yet it felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere. But I saw each challenge as a learning opportunity. I decided to keep building my skills, so I enrolled in night classes to earn an MBA in Digital Marketing. It was a lot to juggle, but it gave me the knowledge and edge I needed to advance. I believe setbacks can be catalysts for growth if you have the right mindset.

What do you think makes a successful marketing campaign in today’s digital age?

A successful campaign needs to resonate with the audience on a personal level. In today’s fast-paced digital world, people are bombarded with content, so authenticity is key. Campaigns that tell a genuine story and connect emotionally are the ones that stand out. It’s also crucial to stay adaptable. Technology and consumer preferences are always evolving, so I believe marketers must remain curious and willing to experiment with new strategies.

With such a demanding career, you also make time for family. How do you manage work-life balance?

Balancing work and family is important to me, and it’s something I prioritize. I’m a dad, and spending time with my kids and being involved in their lives is a huge part of who I am. I try to set boundaries with work so I can be present for things like coaching my son’s soccer team or helping my daughter with her science projects. It’s all about planning and being fully present wherever I am, whether that’s at work or at home.

What’s a memorable project or campaign you’ve worked on that stands out in your career?

One project that stands out was a campaign for a client who wanted to revamp their brand entirely. It was a big challenge because they were known for traditional values, but they wanted to appeal to a younger, more digital-savvy audience. We created a campaign that merged their core values with fresh, innovative messaging, and it was incredibly successful. It taught me the importance of bridging tradition with modern trends, and that’s something I carry into every project.

As someone who has achieved so much, what advice would you give to aspiring marketers looking to make their mark in the industry?

My biggest advice is to stay curious and never stop learning. Marketing is constantly evolving, and staying on top means being proactive and open to new ideas. Network, find mentors, and take on projects that challenge you. And remember, no task is too small—often, the most valuable lessons come from the less glamorous work. Perseverance is key, and if you keep pushing, you’ll find opportunities to showcase your talents.

Finally, what’s next for you? Do you have any new goals or projects on the horizon?

I’m looking forward to spending more time mentoring the next generation of marketers. The industry has given me so much, and I want to give back by helping others navigate their careers. I’m also exploring some new digital marketing technologies and approaches—things are changing so quickly, and I’m excited to keep pushing boundaries and evolving along with it.
