What was the “aha” moment that led you to start Booming Bookkeeping Business?

It came from realizing that traditional bookkeeping was broken for both clients and professionals. I saw skilled people stuck in low-paying roles or commuting to jobs they didn’t enjoy. Meanwhile, demand for remote financial services was skyrocketing. I knew there had to be a better way, and that I could teach others how to capitalize on it.

How did your background as a CPA shape the structure of your mentorship program?

Being a CPA taught me that success comes from systems. I didn’t want to just inspire people, I wanted to give them a replicable framework. That’s why the program focuses on fundamentals: client acquisition, workflow efficiency, and confidence with tech. It’s all grounded in real-world application, not theory.

What’s one myth about bookkeeping that stops people from starting?

The biggest myth is that you need a degree or years of accounting experience. You don’t. What you need is a willingness to learn and follow proven steps. We’ve had people with zero background who now run six-figure bookkeeping businesses, all from their laptops.

With technology evolving rapidly, how do you keep your content ahead of the curve?

We update the curriculum constantly. Whether it’s new automation tools, changes in marketing strategies, or shifts in client expectations, we stay on top of it. I also work closely with active bookkeepers in our community to gather insights and ensure we’re always teaching what’s relevant now, not what worked five years ago.

What motivated you to write your bestselling book, Keyboard Rich?

I wanted to tell the story behind the business; how I went from burnout in corporate to building something that gave me freedom. But more than that, I wanted to show others that it’s possible for them too. The book is part memoir, part roadmap, and 100% about empowerment.

What does your day-to-day look like as the founder of such a fast-growing company?

It’s a mix of strategy, content development, and student engagement. I spend time refining the program, reviewing feedback, and thinking about how to scale impact. I also love creating new challenges and mini-trainings, like the Keyboard Rich Challenge, to keep people motivated and moving forward.

What was a major challenge you faced early on, and how did you overcome it?

In the beginning, it was convincing people that virtual bookkeeping could be more than a side hustle. I had to educate, not just sell. So I focused on showcasing student success stories. Once people saw real individuals making $5K–$10K/month from home, it became undeniable.

For someone considering your program today, what’s your biggest piece of advice?

Start now, even if you’re scared or unsure. Most people wait until conditions are perfect, and that day never comes. You can build this on the side and scale it at your pace. We give you the tools, the roadmap, and the support. The only missing piece is your decision to begin.

What differentiates your most successful students from those who struggle?

It’s all mindset. The top performers are consistent, proactive, and open to feedback. They treat their bookkeeping business like a real business from day one. They don’t overthink. They act, learn, adjust, and grow. That’s the secret formula: action + resilience + support.

Where do you see Booming Bookkeeping Business going in the next 5 years?

We’re scaling globally. Bookkeeping is a universal need, and the remote-first world has opened massive doors. We’re also expanding our support ecosystem; more live coaching, specialized tracks, and tools to help students go from solopreneurs to agency owners. My mission is to help 100,000 people become financially independent. And we’re well on our way.
