How did you get started in this business? What inspired you to start this business?
I became an immigration lawyer because I believe that the situation for immigrants in the United States is one of the most pressing human rights issues in our country at this time.
I started my own law firm so that way I could serve more immigrants and also build an incredible team of Latinos (mostly Latinas).
How do you make money?
We provide life-changing services. Our clients work hard in the United States, pay their taxes, and save their money. They are able to pay our fees as a result of their hard work.
How long did it take for you to become profitable?
It took about two years for me to realize that I needed to run my law firm like the business that it is. Once I began to run it like a business, it became profitable.
When you were starting out, was there ever a time you doubted it would work? If so, how did you handle that?
There were so many times that I doubted that it would work. I did not believe that I could run a successful business if I didn’t have an MBA. I also was always afraid that I was missing something from a legal standpoint. Both thoughts were completely wrong. Once I overcame them with my mindset, everything changed.
How did you get your first customer?
When I started my own law firm, I already had been working as a lawyer for several years. Many of my clients decided they wanted to come with me to my new firm because of the great customer service and results that they had received from me.
What is one marketing strategy (other than referrals) that you’re using that works really well to generate new business?
Consistency on social media is everything.
What is the toughest decision you’ve had to make in the last few months?
As a business owner, I have to make hard decisions every single day. For me, hiring decisions are always the most difficult.
What do you think it is that makes you successful?
I believe that Alexandra Lozano Immigration Law has been successful because my team and I are moved by our mission and it fuels everything that we do.
What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
My most satisfying moment happens every single time I help someone gain legal status when they had been told it was impossible.
What does the future hold for your business? What are you most excited about?
At Alexandra Lozano Immigration Law, we are excited every day because we get to change the lives of our clients. Our goal is to help more and more people transform their lives and empower generations to come.
What business books have inspired you?
Too many to list! The E-Myth and E-Myth Attorney are classics. The Four-Hour Workweek changed everything for me in my business and life. Crushing It by Gary Vaynerchuk was also incredibly inspirational.
What is a recent purchase you have made that’s helped with your business?
I recently obtained my Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, which has been a game-changer.
What makes Alexandra Lozano Immigration Law different from every other law firm?
We are dedicated to efficiency and results. We want our clients to not just feel like we are working hard for them, we want them to know it. We have tight systems and processes that allow for our clients to get the best results in the fastest way possible.
