Soul Quest Ayahuasca - Founder, Chris Young

The world is awakening to a world of self-healing and expanding consciousness. It is also becoming more aware of the dangers of the pharmaceutical industry and its willingness to produce and promote harmful drugs with life-threatening side effects. Every doctor spends years in medical school. The fact that their last year of medical training is free and paid for by the pharmaceutical industry is highly suspect of their persuasive motives. Too many doctors are very quick to offer pharmaceutical drugs as a solution. Acknowledging mother nature as a gentle yet intelligent life-sustaining solution was never in their training. Too few doctors are willing to step out of their trained conditioning to investigate a holistic approach to their healing. Recognizing that manufacturing pharmaceutical drugs are produced without mother nature’s healing properties in mind has encouraged the awakening public to seek-out holistic medicines.

When powerful pharmaceutical lobbyists can indoctrinate a country, where can you go to find truth in healing? The country is trained from birth to never question a doctor. Don’t question the very same doctors who have been trained by the pharmaceutical industry and who produce and promote harmful drugs with life-threatening side effects. However, more and more wellness centers are appearing all over the world. They are dedicated to providing ancient plant medicine that only pure nature can provide. These centers rely upon the powerful plants and roots used to heal throughout ancient history.

Located in Orlando, Florida, the Soul Quest Ayahuasca Church of Mother Earth wellness center is one of the very few places where people can go to find truth in healing. Chris Young founded the Soul Quest Ayahuasca Church of Mother Earth to assist individuals who are on a path of self-healing. Reaching out his hand to heal a heart is the way of a plant medicine Healer or a Shaman. They guide each person through a sacred ceremony providing powerful healing shamanic medicines.

The wisdom gained for Chris Young to create the Soul Quest Ayahuasca wellness center was gained through experience and a series of synchronicities. Chris attended an Ayahuasca conference in Ibiza, Spain to learn about the amazing healing powers of the ancient Amazonian sacred medicine that has been healing people for the past 2,500 years. He experienced Ayahuasca himself on an eleven-day ceremony. It was not until he was back home that the full force of his quest was made apparent. There were people who were at the conference who are being chosen to bring Ayahuasca healing to the masses.

When Chris read the book “The Ayahuasca Manifesto”, he understood how it would save humanity. He and his wife returned home to the U.S. Over the next year, he attended a multitude of Ayahuasca ceremonies. He found a teacher and educated himself on how Ayahuasca works and how to perform the sacred ceremony. Ayahuasca is illegal in the United States, but there was no doubt that he would be opening the Soul Quest Ayahuasca wellness center, as Chris Young felt it was required.

Chris soon found out that the only way that he could bring an Ayahuasca wellness center to the U.S. legally was to create a church. He met with the leaders of the Oklevueha Native American Church (ONAC). He was told that if he became a member and purchased an independent branch of their church that he would be protected under their umbrella and under the freedom of religion act. He made the purchase. Then he proceeded to go to seminary and learned how to organize a church. He learned much from his time with them but ultimately learned that the sacrament that this church used was peyote. The Soul Quest Ayahuasca Church of Mother Earth would not be legal, nor would it be protected.

Chris wanted the Soul Quest Ayahuasca Church of Mother Earth wellness center to be a legal retreat within the United States. The ONAC could not provide the umbrella of protection that he required. It was time to face the DEA. Chris filed a 157-page exemption to become a church with Ayahuasca as their sacrament. In 2006, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the ONAC to use peyote as a sacrament. Based upon that ruling, the DEA had to honor the exemption request to Soul Quest Ayahuasca Church of Mother Earth wellness center to legally use Ayahuasca as their sacrament in their church. They have been an active organization for the past four years.

What inspired you to start the Soul Quest Ayahuasca Church of Mother Earth?

I was at a very low time in my life. I was a stay at home dad with my daughter. This medicine takes a vine and a leave. It was all about the medicine. I had to learn more.

When you were starting out, was there ever a time you doubted it was the right choice for you? If so, how did you handle that?

There was never a doubt that this is what I was called to do. After I was home and the medicine continued to work. I was required to bring Ayahuasca healing to the U.S.

How do you gain new church members?

We work with social media.

How long did it take for you to become a popular church?

There are a lot of people who have spiritual injuries and they are looking for things to help them. There is a lot of information out on the internet now. People are searching for alternatives to healing.

When you were starting out, was there ever a time you doubted it would work? If so, how did you handle that?

The only time that I doubted this would come to be is when I went to the ONAC church and paid the money to become legal thinking that I could use Ayahuasca as a sacrament for the church, and it turned out not to be true. However, I learned what I needed to learn to become a church. So, it all changed. I understood the lesson.

What do you think it is that makes you successful?

We are not trying to be anything other than a wellness center that people can come to without any shame. They should not feel like they have to hide to heal themselves.

What has been your most satisfying moment in your spiritual career?

My renewed faith in everything that was brought to me through Ayahuasca. Beyond anything it is my renewed faith is the most satisfying.

What does the future hold for Soul Quest Ayahuasca Church of Mother Earth? What are you most excited about?

Bringing the medicine to humanity. Giving the opportunity to learn where we come from and about plant history. Doctors don’t know anything about plant medicine. It has been around for thousands of years.

What would Chris Young like to share about the Soul Quest Ayahuasca Church of Mother Earth wellness center?

We were approached by two Canadian producers said that there was a major crisis on our hands. We have people dying of opioids every day. We have 22 people a day killing themselves after coming home from war and we would like to get the word out. Without a thought, I agreed to do it. It has already won two film awards and it is not even out yet. The producer is Luke Cote.

We filmed a movie here. The movie is titled “From Shock to Awe”. The movie is about two military veterans who were suffering from PTSD. They were both on suicide watch and we got them before committing suicide and helped them to get off of all of the medication that the VA prescribed to them. We got them ready to do an Ayahuasca Ceremony. They came to our retreat. They did a three-day, two-night ceremony and it changed their lives forever. The entire process was filmed at our Orlando location. The movie is due to be released on November 12, 2018, in 25 theaters across the United States. It is to open people’s minds and let them know that there are other alternatives and to give people hope.

Every day 22 veterans commit suicide, we are trying to do our best to negate that. Getting this film out there to show that there is hope may be the best way to do this. This is not just for veterans suffering from PTSD, it is for anyone suffering from drama. We would like to try to get this information out to the people.
