How did you get started with Delos Shipping? What inspired you to do so?

I got started in the shipping business in 2010. I made an investment in the shipping industry and decided to focus my investments in the shipping industry.

How does Delos Shipping make money?

Delos Shipping makes money by leasing shipping assets to end-users.

When you first started out did you ever doubt that this would work for you? If so, how did you handle it?

I never doubted that the business would be successful. Any business where you have a combination of hard work and persistence generally works out pretty well.

How did you find your first customer?

My first customer came as a result of a marketing campaign I had performed six months prior to opening the business.

What is one marketing strategy other than referrals that you use to generate new business?

There are two marketing strategies that work well for our business. We present at industry conferences. We also spend a lot of time on the road meeting face to face with prospective clients. We establish their requirements and present the benefits of doing business with Delos.

What is the toughest decision that you have had to make in the past few months?

Our toughest decisions revolve around whether or not to take on a new client. We have to ensure that new clients can financially sustain the leasing contract.

What do you think makes you successful?

What makes me successful is a combination of hard work, persistence, and the willingness to grind it out every day.

What has been your most satisfying moment since opening your own firm?

My most satisfying moment was selling off the majority of our fleet in 2016 after accumulating fifty-eight vessels from 2010-2016.

What does the future hold for you and your firm? What are you most excited about?

I think in the future we will look for new ways to provide financing to our existing customers and new customers. We will provide financing through new sales channels that we will open.

What books have inspired would you recommend.

Good to Great by Jim Collins is one book I really enjoyed. The other book I would recommend is by Dale Carnegie, How to Win Friends and Influence People.
