Michael Luisi is a prominent film/television producer and executive who has served in a producing capacity on over forty productions. Michael Luisi launched his newest business endeavor at the beginning of 2019 and already has three projects in production, with several others scheduled to go before the cameras in 2020.

Born and raised in New York City, Luisi attended New York University where he completed his post-secondary studies in film and television production before earning his law degree. He is currently an adjunct professor at the film schools at USC and NYU, and is also on the film advisory boards at Chapman University and CSUN.

Michael Luisi attributes much of his success to his commitment to delivering premium content on schedule and budget. We asked him for his thoughts on how to succeed in a professional capacity.

How did you get started partnering with Green Flower Nation? What inspired you to do so?

I partnered with Green Flower Nation because they are the trusted global leader for Cannabis information and education. We launched a ten episode podcast program in July entitled “Green Flower Nation”.

How long did it take for your firm to become profitable?

We were fortunate to have a few projects go into production soon after launch, so we profited from the beginning. This also allowed us to take on additional projects. I have several projects in the pipeline set to be produced in 2020, which are all funded. I have my eye on various other ventures as well, as I am always searching for new opportunities.

When you first started out did you ever doubt that this would work for you? If so, how did you handle it?

I think all successful individuals at one time or another doubt their abilities. However, it is critical to believe in what you are doing. Making mistakes provides you with the opportunity to develop both personally and professionally. Focus on your primary objectives, and the rest will follow.

How did you find your first customer?

I have worked in the entertainment industry for many years, and I have always aimed to secure a positive relationship with my customers. I have had a wide range of professional contacts, so it was just a matter of going out and sitting down with the right individuals and understanding what clients were searching for.

What is one marketing strategy other than referrals that you use to generate new business?

It is difficult to pinpoint one specific strategy, but I believe that adhering to a budget and schedule while delivering premium content is imperative to the long-term success of a business.  A strong reputation is ultimately one of the best marketing tools you can have.

What is the toughest decision you have had to make in the past few months?

A challenge for me was recognizing I do not have the bandwidth to take on every project that piques my interest. I recently had to turn down a producing assignment I because I knew I was not going to be able to fit it into my schedule.

What do you think makes you successful?

What I think makes me successful is passion, integrity, commitment and the ability to move things forward. It is important to be persistent and actively seek out innovative solutions.


What has been your most satisfying moment since opening your own business?

The most satisfying moment in my new business so far was selling the first project that I went out with on my own to produce. It was such an exciting moment when I got my first “yes”.


What does the future hold for you and your business? What are you most excited about?

I want to continue to scale-up the business and bring in some creative partners I have been working on a project per- project basis. I established my business less than a year ago, so I am excited to see how the business grows in the upcoming years.


What books have inspired you that you would recommend?

The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron is all about the creative process. The author details work she has done over the course of a decade and guides the reader through a twelve week long program of exercises to help fuel one’s artistic self. This book has remained a primary source of inspiration for me over the course of my professional career.


What is a recent purchase that you have made for your business?

A brand-new laptop. I finally took the time to research the right model to make sure it had everything I needed. It has become my business partner and I would definitely be lost without it. It is even more important than my phone, believe it or not!
