Co-founder Suzanne Hobbs joined forces with Doug Zucco, inventor of the new patent-pending technology, to create Fast Fit Body Sculpting in 2015. They launched their first location in South Carolina and have since expanded their business to nine locations in five states.
Suzanne Hobbs is a former news anchor in Idaho, where she grew up. She fulfilled her dream of being a news reporter while she was still in college and was promoted to news anchor by the time she was twenty-three years of age. She had the opportunity to travel extensively as a news anchor and still does as Co-Founder and Director of Marketing for Fast Fit Body Sculpting.
As a news reporter, Suzanne covered a story of a young mother who tragically disposed of her newborn in a dumpster. She interviewed the father of the girl who was now facing charges. Devastated by the outcome for both mother and child, Suzanne embarked on a quest to assist in enacting a law that was created to provide a safe haven for mothers who would face the same dire situation in the future. The Baby Safe Haven Law was enacted in the state of Idaho within six months of her report. The law is now in 50 states. Suzanne is an advocate of this law and is raising awareness nationally. As a number one selling author of her children’s book, The Hungry Snake, she is donating a portion of the book sales to support efforts of the Safe Haven Laws.
Suzanne Hobbs and co-founder Doug Zucco are on a whirlwind adventure with their new technology and erupting expansion. According to Suzanne, they have an ambitious goal of opening hundreds of new locations within the next three to five years.
How did you get started in this business? What inspired you to start this business?
Fast Fit Body Sculpting was actually started from a tragic incident. We were living in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, at the time when Doug had a heart attack. His father died about the same age from a heart attack and, as a result, Doug always lived a very healthy lifestyle. His father died about the same age from a heart attack. He learned from his doctor that he had visceral fat. It is a very stubborn fat and it is difficult to get rid of. Doug learned that the only way to get rid of visceral fat is through LED technology set at a very specific frequency. So, he researched the technology for himself, but also realized that it could be turned into a business to help others. LED lights help to alter and reduce the size of fat cells, changing the shape of the body.
How long did it take for you to become profitable?
It is very difficult to say exactly when we became profitable. We started the business with cash. We never had to go out and get a loan. We’ve done that with each and every one of our locations. When we first opened, I was doing the marketing, but I was also the technician. Doug would do the consultations. After that, we had to hire a part-time employee, but we have flourished and expanded so much and now we have more than 50 employees. We are becoming a nationally known brand. We are a major sponsor of the Vegas Golden Knights, the NHL hockey team, and we have our logo on the ice. We have really evolved our marketing.
When you were starting out, was there ever a time you doubted it would work? If so, how did you handle that?
We had our first client come in the very next day after placing an ad in the Sunday paper. Doug did a consultation and we presented the technology, and she was our first client. Our confidence level went up! When she started her treatments, she had really great results. From day one it has been a success as more and more people kept signing up. We had to buy a second device because we couldn’t accommodate everyone with one piece of equipment.
What is one marketing strategy (other than referrals) that you’re using that works really well to generate new business?
Our best advertising is done through word of mouth. Our clients send their family members to us. But right now, it is television that is bringing in a lot of people. Our marketing strategy is to tell stories. We use our client’s photos. We show the progress that is made in a matter of weeks. That is what is bringing people in. We know that our results are very impressive.
What is the toughest decision you’ve had to make in the last few months?
The toughest decisions that I have to make is when to travel. I travel a lot for my business, but I have a daughter. Sometimes I have to tell her that she will have to be with her nanny for up to a couple of weeks when we are opening a new location. If there is no school, I bring her with me. But it is tough being away from her. It is not easy on her either.
What do you think it is that makes you successful?
Doug Zucco and I have a great working relationship. He is great with clients and I am good at promoting the business. The technology speaks for itself. We have a wonderful product that works. We have a great formula and we are good at what we do. We are thankful to the clients who put their trust in us.
What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
We have had so many successful results. I give people guaranteed results. I’ve even had people hug me. They are so appreciative to have the results. Some people have been trying for years to get rid of the fat and diet and exercise is just not enough. We can get rid of fat in weeks. We are changing people’s lives. People are thankful for us starting this business.
What does the future hold for your business? What are you most excited about?
The future is very bright for Fast Fit Body Sculpting. We hope to have hundreds of locations across the country within three to five years. As far as what excites me is that we are helping people. I can guarantee anyone who comes through the door, that if they follow our program, they will have results. That is exciting as well.
What business books have inspired you?
I would recommend any books by Grant Cardone. I have them on audio. If you own a business or if you are in sales these are excellent books. He knows Doug personally and we consider him a mentor.
What is a recent purchase you have made that’s helped with your business?
We just hired a new marketing company out of Seattle. We just shot some podcasts that are now available on iTunes. They are helping us brand our image and improve our Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. We have grown so much that I need a team to help me with marketing.
Can you explain how LED Technology works to reduce fat?
First of all, the technology is safe, pain-free, and non-invasive.. Normally it would take a person two hours on an empty stomach, and about 25 minutes on, say, an elliptical machine, to get into the fat burning mode. However, you cannot target where the fat is going to be reduced. When you come to Fast Fit Body Sculpting, we can target the area that you want to reduce the fat within ten minutes. Our technology puts you into a targeted fat burning mode. You will be in lipolysis and that is when we recommend that you go for a brisk walk. Move your body for a minimum of thirty minutes and you are burning targeted fat from the first minute you start your workout. You are also tightening, toning and firming because of the LED and infrared technology.
