How were you inspired to be an Environmental Consultant?

From a young age, I knew I would be working in this field or something similar. In middle school, I was assigned a project to create a poster on water pollution for a competition. Living in Illinois, after researching and photographing the hometown drains that were emptying into local lakes, I knew something had to be done. Those images changed my life—put everything into perspective for me. I knew then that I wanted to work with the environment instead of against it.

Is the next world crisis a water crisis?

That’s an important question. It’s a topic that shouldn’t be taken lightly. The increase in world population is part of the problem as the demand for water increases. Overall, however, the water demand is higher than the supply. Many areas are converting their water industries into urban and industrial sectors. Many factors are contributing to the problem, and over the next years, we will see policies that will allow us to adapt to the new environment.

Who has appreciated your work?

Many respectable newspapers and magazines. I have clients in both North and South America as well. Currently, I am focusing on environmental regulation and policy by working with local and regional organizations in Brazil.

What other activities do you enjoy other saving the environment?

Rock climbing is one of my favorite hobbies.

What’s your state of mind before climbing a mountain?

At the start of every mountain, which is the bottom, I get slightly nervous. It’s a mixture of excitement, adrenalin, nerves, and risk. I mean, your looking up at a giant stone wall—it’s a sight.

What does the future have in store for you?

I am an avid yoga student and soon-to-be instructor. So, hopefully, I’ll have my own studio one day and be able to help friends, co-workers, and business associates become more deeply aware of their bodies and surroundings. I believe that deeper awareness is the door to growth. We can achieve this through a yoga practice. Not to mention, practicing yoga helps with my rock climbing abilities.
