For online entrepreneurs, running a business has its perks.  Being able to work from secluded beaches and seemingly have no one to answer to can lure many into becoming digital nomads.   And while running an online business has its advantages, Agam Berry explains that it’s not always as easy as entrepreneurs like to make it appear when showcasing their traveling lifestyle on Instagram.

Agam Berry is a seasoned online entrepreneur that knows the ups and downs of running and consulting with many companies.  He has helped other online firms grow their businesses in addition to investing and exploring new opportunities.

How do you make money?

I consult regularly with various online companies.  Some are small startups and I help them get going in the right direction.  Others are more established companies where there are existing revenue streams in place.  For those, I’ll typically help their marketing departments become more efficient and optimize their paid media placements.

For the past three years, I’ve also become more involved with cryptocurrencies. 2017 has been a wonderful year for crypto enthusiasts. I will be updating my blog about what changes are coming to the cryptocurrency markets soon.  There are some exciting opportunities for beginners this year.   My goal is to help more people understand how cryptocurrencies could change the way we buy and sell goods and services.

What’s your favorite part about your business?

The best part about what I do is getting to network with new people.  Meeting new companies that allow you to look “under the hood” as to how they operate really opens your mind.  Everyone has different goals in business, but it’s very motivating to see how they all are very similar in drive.

I also love the freedom that it brings to traveling.  For my business, I’m able to connect with any of my clients and still work from anywhere as long as I have a steady internet connection.   I love to visit new places and see parts of the world that I would never get to experience if I had a regular desk job.

What are you focusing on right now in your business?

The mobile landscape is still growing in the advertising world.  I’m not putting all of my eggs into that basket, but it’s something to pay attention to and a place where I can continually sharpen my skill set.  Right now, I’m focusing mostly on growing my connections and networking with more businesses that need to expand their marketing departments.

What is one marketing strategy that you’re using that works really well to generate new business?

Simple: Go to conferences!  Conferences that are related to your industry can really serve you well.  You don’t even need to purchase tickets to the event or spend a lot of money to get contacts out of the show. Being on the show floor helps, but most of the people I work with currently I’ve bumped into or met just outside of the event.

I have sponsored some events and meetups in the past and they can pay off if you’re new and trying to get your name out there.  Once you are established, though, just being around a conference can work wonders.

What’s the toughest thing about operating a business like yours?

Staying disciplined is probably the toughest part for many people.  I don’t really have too much of an issue but many people in the digital consulting world can easily get distracted and want to move into different sectors when they see what their clients are doing.

What has been your most satisfying moment in business?

The most satisfying moment I’ve encountered is seeing one of the companies I helped launch get acquired for an eight-figure buyout!  I still stay in touch with the founders today and they have become great friends.

What do you think it is that makes you successful?

Staying focused.   As I mentioned previously, a lot of people can get distracted.  Being successful is part focus and dealing with failure.  The first time an entrepreneur fails is an important moment – you must push through it or you’ll hinder your own success.

What books have inspired you?

One of my latest favorites is Third Circle Theory by Pejman Ghadimi.  It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read.  He also has another book that was just released but I haven’t yet had a chance to pick it up called Radius.

Previously, Influence by Robery Cialdini was my favorite.  It’s still near the top of my list.  Both are a must read for any aspiring entrepreneur.

Do you have any advice you want to share with an aspiring entrepreneur?

Absolutely – read as much as you can!  Reading business books, both classics and new releases, will expand your mind and give you new ideas to explore and incorporate into your life.  I highly recommend Third Circle Theory – grab a copy today!
